{Hank: Palmer High School Senior} Colorado Springs High School Senior Photographer

I don’t even have words for this kid! Hank. Oh my gosh…I was literally the most exhausted after his shoot, BUT in the best way possible!!! Hank is one of those souls/personalities that just oozes energy & positivity…so much so, that you can’t help but join in on his enthusiasm!!! I smiled the entire time I took his pics…we had so much fun laughing & meshing ideas together!!!

We met at classic Garden of the Gods to capture his nature loving spirit & ended at Colorado College Campus to capture his distinct business way of thinking in a little more formal wear. He rocked his ENTIRE shoot!!!

{Kasey: Liberty High School Senior} Colorado Springs High School Senior Photographer

Who loves sunflowers, black-eyed susans, whatever you want to call them? I’m not so good with the names of flowers, but I do know I love them…especially open fields of them!!! So does Kasey…so it couldn’t have been more perfect when we stumbled upon this open field of them at Bear Creek Regional Park last summer. It was stunning & with the mountains in the background…SWOON!

Kasey was so much fun to work with…all smiles, bubbly, happy. I just adored this girl from head to toe!!! We had so much fun together exploring Old Colorado City & soaking up the happiness of the wildflowers and beauty all around us.

I really do love my photoshoots with clients…now if I could just skip the editing part.;)

Take a peek at Kasey’s full session below…

{Kloe: Palmer Ridge High School Senior} Colorado Springs High School Senior Photographer

2 things that are completely frustrating me: 1.) I have absolutely no control over the fact that it’s snowing on May 20th right now!!! 2.) I thought I was getting better at being organized & could keep up with blogging. Apparently I CAN’T!!!

Moving on…despite the yucky & depressing white stuff outside my window right now, I decided to pretend it’s warm and bring ya’ll back to last August…when I was actually sweating while shooting this adorable Senior!!! Meet cute Kloe!!! She is one of the most down to earth & genuine Seniors I have had the privilege of photographing all year. She’s definitely a tom-boy & I love that about her. She knows what she likes & what she doesn’t. She is so photogenic & I absolutely LOVE those freckles of hers. Truly a natural beauty. I know Kloe was a bit uncomfortable with showing her braces (which I totally get…that was my daughter for 1.5 years) & I’m sure Kloe is rocking a brace-free smile by now, but I told her…I loved her smile anyway, because it was true. When she smiled her eyes smiled too…they danced & sparkled.

One of my favorite things about her session was that she trusted me when I suggested this location. It was an old worn down gas station in Castle Rock that was abandoned but still accessible at the time. I discovered it with my daughter & made her my guinea pig before offering it up to clients. Boy am I happy that I got to shoo there a few times before they tore it down. YEP! Sadly…I went back as it was requested again & it was GONE. I wanted to cry!!! =(

We also shot in downtown Castle Rock because they have several areas that have that Urban Vibe we were going for…& they worked perfectly with Kloe’s outfits.

Personal Side Note: You know how I always have those “Courtney stories for you”…well this is one of those times.;) I was mid-session shooting Kloe when my flip-flop broke. Like COMPLETELY broke. Not fixable AT ALL. Luckily for me, Kloe had decided to bring ALL her shoes to her session so that I could give her my styling opinion, so she lended me a backup pair which I wore to shoot the remainder of her session. UNFORTUNATLEY for me, they were a size: 7…I wear a size 9. LOL!!! Needless to say I ended with a few new blisters. Ha!

P.S. This is NOT my first shoe story while shooting!!! I’m telling you guys…I could write a book on the things that happen to me while shooting. Ha-ha-ha!

{Noah: Pine Creek High School Senior}--Colorado Springs High School Senior Photographer

Oh Noah!!! You were such a stud & also a gentleman during your Senior session…I really adored working with you & your mom. Not only did we stumble upon some great locations during your session, but I’m pretty sure you mastered the “smolder” too! Ha! Your mom & I had you overthinking it a few times…so sorry for ALL OF THE DIRECTION. LOL!!! You were a good sport & I was obsessed with the outfit choices you came up with. Nice work!!!

Sometimes I think there is a misconception of shooting males vs. females. That males are boring & don’t like having their photos taken. Although this may be true in some instances…this was most certainly NOT the case with Noah…he was anything but the stereotypical “male” during his photoshoot. Loved every minute of this session. Take a peek & you’ll quickly see WHY. Noah knows how to “work” the camera.;)

{John: Doherty High School Senior}--Colorado Springs High School Senior Photographer

Yes, I photograph guy Seniors too!!! Meet John…I had the honor of taking his two older sister’s Senior Pictures in previous years & loved that I got to make it a family ordeal. =) John was soooooo much fun to work with!!! I can’t emphasize that enough. He was totally up for ANYTHING & I love when my clients trust me during posing, locations, ideas, etc. John was totally getting into it by the end of his session & his comfortability level shows in his photos. I just LOVE how they turned out. After this session’s sneak-peek was posted…ALL of his guy buddies contacted me over the summer. LOL!!! Guess they all wanted to look as studly as John.;) Take a peek at his Urban Senior Session…

{Maddison: Air Academy High School Senior}--Colorado Springs High School Senior Photographer

I haven’t blogged in a few weeks mainly due to not having home internet for a while (ugh…talk about a pain in my tushy)!!! So, I’m back at it on this LONG (Daylight Savings) MONDAY!!! So sleepy, but trying to get caught up & wanted to post a few of my favorite Senior sessions from last summer. This was Maddison…gorgeous & shy (at first) with the most amazing hair EVER!!! We had so much fun connecting on so many different levels. We started in downtown Colorado Springs for some urban spots & ended at the Nature & Discover Center so we could get in shots of that amazing stone bridge where she daringly dipped her toes in the ice cold water. Eeeeek! Braver than I.;) Obsessed with so many images from her session. Take a peek at our summer morning together…

{Kendall: Palmer Ridge High School Senior} Colorado Springs/Monument Senior Photographer

Kendall had me at hello. =) No, seriously though...loved working with this girl. She has a heart of gold. She is genuine, nurturing, and has the most amazing contagious smile you've ever seen. I adored her mom & sister who tagged along. We had gorgeous weather, fun new inspiring locations & all around the most amazing time. I always tell my Seniors, you make me feel YOUNG AGAIN, but it's soooo true! I just connect with this age group. And as my own daughter gets older & will be attending Palmer Ridge herself next year as a Freshman (whoah...just had a freak out moment as I typed that!!!) it just gets more real & more relatable for me. Kendall was such a joy to work with, if I can even call it "work." I love my job & I love my clients. She texted me pics of her outfits in advance which always helps me determine backdrops, especially for the urban portion of the session, but sometimes with rural too. The weather on this spring morning was unbelievable as were the smiles & laughter. My favorite sets of Kendall are definitely in the simple blue dress as they highlighted her eyes. Cannot wait to hear which college you choose to study nursing at...you will be amazing at it. Best of luck during your Senior year. Go get'em girl!!! Take a peek...

{Megan: Palmer Ridge High School Senior} Colorado Springs Senior Photographer

When I talked to Megan on the phone about her Senior session, she knew exactly what she wanted, what she was going to where & generally speaking, where she wanted them. Together we collaborated & came up with a plan. I was mostly excited that I got to shoot a Senior session in the SPRING & that I was able to capture the cherry blossoms before they were gone. I have been dying to shoot them every season, but ALWAYS miss them...so this was a treat! Megan was so easy to work with, took direction well, rocked her outfits & we had amazing weather. To say this was a great start to Senior season would be an understatement. I love that these images display the wide variety of Megan's personality from bright & colorful, to tough & strong (she also happens to work at City Rock & is an avid Rock Climber) to her soft & feminine side. Take a look for yourself. Here's a peek at some of my favorites...

{Abigail: Palmer Ridge High School Senior} Colorado Springs Senior Photographer

If I haven't said it before, I'll say it again...I LOVE working with High School Seniors!!! I love watching them start out timid, shy, uncertain & then over the course of two hours with me...come of their shell, see their personality, and literally SHINE!!! One of the reasons I love my job is because I love people. I think God gave me the natural gift of making others comfortable to be themselves. I come in...judgement free, an open book & ready to capture YOU just as you are. I will guide you & direct you with ideas & poses along the way. I'll talk to you and find out your passions, dreams, college/career plans, whether your single or dating, how many kids you want. Ok, I might be kidding about the last one. Ha! But truly...I love learning about and getting to know my clients. I don't ask for any other reason than that I actually care. I get invested because that's who I am. I want to do the best I can to genuinely capture who you really are.

This is a huge milestone; your Senior session. This is heading into your last year of High School. Your year where you really learn about yourself, grow, mature, experience and then you spread your wings & learn to fly all on your own. I know it may sound cheesy, but it is SO TRUE!!!

{Max: Palmer Ridge High School Senior} Colorado Springs High School Senior Photographer

Max is the youngest of three & ironically, I had the honor of taking both of his older sibling's Senior pictures too. Max is seriously one of the sweetest, nicest young men I have ever worked with & that's saying a lot, because in 9 years time, I've worked with my fair-share of Seniors.;) We decided upon downtown Palmer Lake & the lake itself because let's face it...pictures probably weren't the first thing on his agenda & I KNOW he'd probably rather have been doing other things. LOL! This is when I remind boys that these pics are for their Ma-Ma's.;) This always produces a smile. I love that Max put up with my crazy antics & that he is confident in his masculinity to wear PINK. Yay! I love a man that can wear pink.

{Anna: Lewis Palmer High School Senior} Colorado Springs High School Senior Photographer

Anna's Session was so unique to her...she had a specific vision in mind & thanks to her persistence in finding EXACTLY the location she wanted, her pictures turned out STUNNING! Almost as stunning as she looked. I loved her wardrobe choices & her lipstick accompaniment.;) I know sounds funny to say, but I love a dark red lip & Anna rocked it like nobody I know! We decided on Starsmore Discovery Nature Center because she wanted water & not just any water, but a bridge. Well, her opening shot (literally first frame out of the camera) barefoot on the rock was practically historical ( I have been asked by so many people, where this shot was taken it's laughable). Way to make yourself & your spot famous, Anna!!! I agree, she makes it look just gorgeous. I went back several other times throughout Senior Season & each time it had a different feel, but I happen to love how lush & green & full it was during your session girly! Take a peek at her gorgeous pictures on an unbelievably perfect evening.

{Faith: CSCS High School Senior} Colorado Springs High School Senior Photographer

I remember Faith so well...she was a girl after my own heart...lover of fashion & shoes. Oh yes...she showed up with the cutest wardrobe & accessories to boot! Pretty sure we connected immediately over the fashion & the rest was history.;) It was a chilly, overcast day, but she ROCKED her session regardless. She started out quiet & timid, but ended strong & confident. I love your sweet smile & disposition Faith & I know God has BIG plans for you!!! One more thing...she attends CSCS, where I went to High School, so we obviously connected over that too. Pretty cool. =)

{Nate: Palmer Ridge High School Senior} Colorado Springs High School Senior Photographer

I have known Nate & his family since my kiddos were itty-bitty! His mom was my kid's Sunday School Teacher at Vanguard Church many years ago & next year she'll by my daughter's High School counselor at Palmer Ridge. Small World Connections. I could tell you so many great things about Nathan...he's incredibly smart, incredibly polite, incredibly sweet, incredibly athletic, but instead I'm going to tell you how incredibly photogenic he is & let the pictures speak for themselves.;) Take a peek... & P.S. Fall is the BEST!!!

{Noah: High School Senior: Twin Cities, MN} Traveling Photographer

Yep...I did this handsome young High School Senior's Photos in the Twin Cities, MN while I was out there shooting a wedding. What a FUN session!!! Talk about urban landscape...couldn't get much cooler than these spots in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. Loved every moment with this sweet kiddo too! So polite, so up for anything & a natural in front of the camera. Check out his awesome shots & if you're interested in booking your High School Senior pics in your city & can finagle 4-5 other dudes {or dudettes for that matter) ...I'm IN!!! I love traveling & I'm always inspired by new locations. Feel free to contact me on my website or by e-mail.

Jillian: Liberty High School Senior} Colorado Springs High School Senior Photographer

Jillian attends Liberty High School in Colorado Springs, she'll be graduating this Spring, 2018. She loves the great outdoors, hiking, nature, yoga & plans to study Political Science & or Law hopefully at The University of Alabama in the Fall. She has the most adorable personality & those dimples...oh my!!! This girl has her head on straight & I remember how proud her Ma-Ma was during the course of her Senior Session. I would be too! Way to go Jillian...I wish you nothing but the best & I see a bright future ahead. =) Keep on smiling...

{Gage: Lewis Palmer High School Senior} Colorado Springs High School Photographer

Gage...a real cutie! I think I've been saying that about this young man since I first met him 5 or so years ago. His family are our friends & my husband's co-worker. My daughter may have had a crush on him at one time (shhhhh....). I knew working with Gage would be cake-walk. He's a natural & has one of those contagious smiles that light up a room. Now...getting him to smile was going to be a little trickier. I know I've probably mentioned before, but guys don't LOVE having their photos taken. BIG SUPRISE!!! So it's my job to figure out what it's going to take to make them feel comfortable, natural & laugh. What's funny? I am. In all seriousness though...God uses me to make a complete butt out of myself to make others laugh. This is true. Not intentionally. I just happen to be super clumsy while shooting...mainly because I'm looking through the lens of the camera & not paying attention to what's going on around me. LOL!!! But because of these unplanned happenings, I typically can make just about anyone laugh, let alone smile. So...I just have to be quick with the camera during those moments of tripping, getting stung by a bee, falling in a cactus or losing a shoe in a lake. YEP...these are all true stories of events that have actually happened to me while shooting during sessions. No lie!!!

I should probably also note, I don't ALWAYS want a smile...in fact, with Senior guys *unless a smile is true to their personality* I will take a lot of serious/macho/masculine looks...because they ALL like that. Ok, well most of them.!;) More on Gage...here's a peek at his unique downtown CS Senior Session...

{Lauren: Palmer Ridge High School Senior} Colorado Springs High School Photographer

"Redheads are God's way of giving the world roses.--Author Unknown.

Meet Lauren. She's a fiery red-head that loves drama, colors & wants to pursue acting/modeling. Lauren chose Manitou Springs as her location which was so fitting to her wardrobe choices & fiery personality. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED working with Lauren & her mom. So easy to communicate with & once she warmed up, I do believe she was loving every second of her session. I mean, who doesn't love to feel like a super model for a day? Lauren ROCKED her every frame, every outfit, every back-drop. She was super inspiring to my coffee-hyped morning with her. Ha! Take a peek at the magic...

{Abby: Palmer Ridge High School Senior (part 3) Colorado Springs High School Photographer

You starting to recognize this face? It's because Abby is my niece & because I probably took a gazillion & one photos of her over the course of last summer. LOL!!! That's what you do when you're family.;) Plus she's pretty darn cute & likeable. Ha!

This was our part 3 of her Senior Pics. For these we decided to go to a coffee shop (specifically Fifty-Fifty Coffee-House because I know the owners (some of my fav. clients) & I happen to love their coffee & shop. Abby wanted some shots of her sipping coffee & writing, since she'd like to move to Paris someday & become a writer. We ALMOST brought her vintage type-writer along, but oh my gosh...it weighs a small TON!!! Ha! The next stop was Manitou Springs to show off her playful/whimsical side. LOVED her tulle skirt & oversized balloons. We had way too much fun (except the part where it was a Saturday during tourist season & I stood in a parking spot to save it for my sister for what felt like 20 minutes & got lots of dirty looks.) Oops!;) #sorrynotsorry

{Bianca: Palmer Ridge High School Senior} Colorado Springs High School Photographer

This beauty was an absolute natural in front of the lens. From the moment she walked up, I knew we would have nothing but fun & I was sooo RIGHT!!! We had a blast together & I also had the privilege of meeting both her parents & grandma as they tagged along during her session. I loved it & I think they did too. I even snapped a pic of all of them at the end to commemorate a special day. Bianca chose to do her photos in Old Colorado City which I adored...it's full of eclectic colors, unpredictable back drops around every corner & full of personality just like BIANCA. =) Take a peek at her pics & you'll see just what I mean...
